Sold-out inaugural event was an immense success

Last month we hosted Rare Earth Mines, Magnets & Motors 2024 in Toronto.

The two-day conference brought together leading stakeholders from across the mine-to-OEM supply chain for high caliber discussions and networking at the prestigious Fairmont Royal York hotel.

The sold-out inaugural event was an immense success. Feedback from attendees and participants was overwhelmingly positive leaving us no doubt that we will be back even bigger and better still in 2025!

Some important themes that echoed loudly at the conference this year

Diversification: In today’s economically and geopolitically frayed world, the importance of having robust, transparent, alternative supply chains was a key theme repeated by suppliers and end-users alike throughout the conference.

Tariffs: The topic of tariffs on EVs, tariffs on magnets and other potential applications thereof was thoroughly discussed and debated throughout the conference. With Europe and North America having fallen behind on EVs, tariffs buy them time to catch up, albeit are generally not a desirable long-term strategy.

Demand: The outlook for long-term rare earth and permanent magnet demand is more robust than ever. In the near- to medium-term, the so-called “shift to hybrids” in the EV space is expected to be a net-positive for NdFeB demand. Over the medium- to long-term, robotics and advanced air mobility are expected to be the new frontiers of NdFeB demand.
